In February Adam Blakester announced he would stand as an independent candidate with a policy platform of "developed by the voices of the electorate".
He kept a low profile during the state election, but has been on a listening tour through the electorate in March.
"We have a big campaign ahead of us. In simple terms we need 500 volunteers, 5000 donors and 50,000 votes, that's the challenge," he said
GLEN Innes domestic violence advocate Cindy Duncan has been announced as the United Australia Party's candidate for New England. Federal leader of the party Clive Palmer said Ms Duncan would also serve as UAP's Shadow Minister for the Status of Women.
